GTS Faculty

A guide for GTS Faculty on using the Bishop Payne library, its resources, and services.

Borrowing

GTS Faculty may borrow up to 50 books at a time, with a due date at the end of each semester.

Shipping:

GTS Faculty may request up to 5 books at a time be shipped to them. The library will pay for outgoing shipping costs, and then it is the faculty member's responsibility to return the book to the library. Send any shipping requests to paynelib@vts.edu. In your request, please include information about the books you wish to borrow and confirm your shipping address.

Please return books to:

Bishop Payne Library
Virginia Theological Seminary
3737 Seminary Road
Alexandria, Virginia 22304

Recalls:

If another member of the community requests a book to be recalled, the book becomes due 7 days from the date of the request. Patrons will be notified if this occurs.

eResources

Remote Access:

When accessing the library's eResources remotely, you will be prompted by the online catalog system to enter your last name and library barcode. Once entered, you will be redirected to the eResource you were accessing. You will need to authenticate once per browsing session.

eResources:

All of the library's eResources are available from the main library page: library.vts.edu. From here, use the OneSearch box to search for material. If desired, use the left-hand limiters to limit results to eBooks or journal articles. OneSearch searches nearly all material in the library's collection at once.

A-Z List of Databases: This list, accessible on the library's main page, provides a list of all of the library's eResources and databases.
