This guide is for researchers who are searching for historical information about a particular Episcopal congregation. The tabs on the left-hand menu direct researchers to sources by type.

How to Get Started

To start your research, you will need to learn 4 details about your congregation of interest:

  1. Its name and previous names
  2. The City, State, and (ideally) County where it is/was located.
  3. Whether it is still open
  4. When it was founded

After gathering these basic details, you can get started with your research using the library's collections.

Research Assistance

For research assistance, please reach out to paynelib@vts.edu. A librarian or archivist will respond to your inquiry and will help you get started with your project. In your initial email, please include the above 4 details about your congregation and a brief note about the nature of the project you are working on. This will help us tailor our service to you.
