Preaching / Lectionary Commentaries

Commentaries in these series are designed as preaching aids. Most of these are organized by the lectionary.


Feasting on the Word: Preaching the Revised Common Lectionary

  • This ecumenical series provides commentary based on the lectionary readings each week. Classified both as a set and individually by book of the Bible. See BV 4235 L43 F43.
  • Note: There are additional volumes dedicated to the Gospel readings throughout the lectionary year. See here.

Connections: A Lectionary Commentary for Preaching and Worship

  • Connections is another ecumenical lectionary-based commentary series. Classified as a set, see BV 4235 L43 C86.

The Lectionary Commentary: Theological Exegesis for Sunday's Texts

  • These volumes are organized by liturgical order, i.e. one volume is dedicated to that week's Old Testament reading, another to the Gospel reading. Classified as a set, see REF BS 534.5 L471.

Texts for Preaching Lectionary Commentaries

  • This is a 3 volume series with shorter commentaries on the main lectionary readings for each year. Classified as a set, see BV 4235 .L43 T488 v.1-3.
